Introduction to the topic:

-explaining what emotion means, what are the components (picture nr 1),

-discuss it with example of being hungry (picture nr 2)

Tasting different types of food with eyes closed and recognizing emotions

We divide participants into two groups. One has eyes closed and taste the food.

Food should consist of products / dishes that have the same look or structure but taste differently (e.g. salt and sugar, cakes in the same colour-picture nr 3).

Another is one observing emotions of the first group and write comments on post-its. This group also looks at the pictures of masterchefs during cooking and leave comments. After 10 minutes groups change their role. The second group do also the same thing.

After this part, everybody sit in the circle, we show comments about faces and we start discussion:

What happened during this activity? What kind of feelings did you experienced? How many common comments did you discover about facial expression? Why they were different? How do you think? How tasting food is connected with emotions?

Types of emotions

We comment discussion that as there is food with the same structure but taste differently, there are also basic emotions, but there are differences between them in details - e.g. being happy means something different to each of us.

Then we show participants emotional circle where they can see wide range of emotions, from basic to detailed ones.

We discuss how they vary from 7 main emotions.

Emotional self-awareness

We continue discussion about different types of emotions.

We ask participants how they feel, react, to some of them.

We show, that each of us is different, feel and react for the same emotion in another way.

We explain that are some tools that can be adapted for our own situation, when we are emotional.

We present emotional awareness self management steps:

Sensation: How do I feel

?Naming: what’s my emotion (if I don’t name it, I’m not able to manage with it)

Attributing: what is the function ? What’s the message for me of this emotion?Evaluating: How do I feel about my feelings? Do I accept, understand my feelings?Acting: What do I want do about it?

We ask participant to think about one emotion that is hard for them to deal with or they experienced mostly last time.

Cooking

We ask participant to create their own recipe for managing with one emotion. We give them example ( like 1 spoon of jazz music, 1 splash into the sea, 1 piece of hug).

Then participants go to the cooking place and are asked to transform their recipe into real meal. They can choose any products (from available) that we want to use, with writing explanation why it’s this concrete one.

In this way they create real connection with inner-selves and get real recipe that they can prepare at home.

Sharing part

All participant present their dishes, explain why they made them in this way, why they used concrete products. All together we eat and continue discussion.

We close this part with sentence, that we are all different, have a lot of emotions, react in our own way and that’s why we should have our own recipe.

We ask participants for comment about workshop and feedback in evaluation pizza.
