10. Emotional Cards - Self Awareness

Main purpose of the tool: To help raising self-awareness by identifying emotions we

usually/eventually face with. Self-awareness is the basic component of Emotional Intelligence, it is essential to be successful in the remaining 3 main components: self-management, social-awareness and relationship-management. Therefore the tool aims to increase one's level of Emotional Intelligence.


Target audience: Individuals willing to improve their Emotional Intelligence


Description of the tool:

In case we decide to create and use this tool, we need to do the following:

1. After careful reflection, we select the main emotions we usually

have.

Tip: Let us try not to have more than 25-30

2. We dedicate some (enough!) time to reflect on what these emotions

mean to us, how we imagine them, how we experience them, how could we

illustrate them in a way that is a powerful representation for us

Tip: Based on its highly personal nature, it requires individual work, safe space and

honesty

3. We take our creativity and time, and we illustrate each emotion on a piece of paper, using colors, shapes or figures

Tip: Let us use the same size of paper for each emotion, preferably size of A6 or tiny bit smaller.

4. We reflect on what each emotion can mean, what message they deliver, what sign/alarm they have for us.

5. We write our definition (point 5) of each emotion on separate pieces of paper, same

size as the illustrations have.

Tip: Let us first state the emotion, then give the description and mention at the

bottom the route-emotion.

6. We pair the illustrations with our descriptions of the emotions, and stick together the paring ones on their back.

7. We enjoy using the tool while improving our skill of identifying our emotions.
